Patio Chairs

A typical outdoor furniture chaise is a long chair that provides seating usually for a single person.  It has an angled backrest and only one armrest.  It accommodates the entire body, including the feet.

Modern chaise lounges are not restricted by design.  They come with adjustable backs and with or without armrests.  Chaises come in many ergonomic designs and with customized cushions.  They can be made of wood, plastic or metal.  Since an outdoor furniture chaise is almost horizontal to the ground, it tends to gather a lot of dust.  Therefore, the cushion covers must be dust, mildew and moisture resistant.  If possible, invest in a good chaise cover.

There’s no need for you to confine your dinner parties to the living room or dining room. Your patio can be a lovely place to host a few guests – if you have the right patio furniture chairs.  There is a variety to choose from for any sort of gathering you enjoy hosting, from folding chairs to big soft chairs to light chairs. You don’t even have to be confined to traditional chairs. Consider a chaise lounge or a rocker. They come in so many materials including aluminum, teak, or plastic – all of them treated to resist the elements. If you only need the chairs occasionally, folding chairs can easily be folded up and put into the garage when the party is over.

How to Clean Outdoor Patio Chairs

by guestpost on March 1, 2010

Outdoor patio chairs tend to get dusty with time, since airborne dust settles on it around the clock.  If left unattended, they may be a source of embarrassment when friends arrive.  Whether you have wood chairs, wicker chairs, plastic chairs or metal chairs, daily dusting and wiping with a moist cloth is a must.  Wicker and wood chairs need to be cleaned with care.

Wicker chairs collect a lot of dust between the reeds and may appear darker in those places.  A cloth may not reach between the reeds.  Therefore, a handled antistatic duster or a feather duster would be ideal.  Wood chairs can be gently dusted daily and wiped every couple of days with a sponge dipped in very mild sudsy water.  Take care not to rub off the sealant.  Occasional sealing and varnishing will restore the shine of wood chairs.

Patio Chairs: Getting them Ready for the Season

by guestpost on January 18, 2010

The first few days of sunny and pleasant weather are upon you and it is time to start thinking about bringing the patio chairs out of storage and getting ready for the coming spring and summer months. To get them ready for their day in the sun, bring your patio chairs out into the yard and spray them off with a garden hose if they are plastic or metal. If they are wooden, brush the dust off of them instead. Check the chairs for stability and tighten any parts that need it. If wooden chairs need to be sanded and refinished do so before the spring entertainment season kicks into high gear.

Who doesn’t like to sit on the patio after a hard day’s work with a fresh drink in hand? Choosing a good and pretty patio chair is the answer to comfort and style. Patio chairs come in all kinds of different material, from iron – with a cushion, can be very comfortable – to wicker and plastic. Plastic won’t last as long and is cheaper in cost, so you can change the look of your patio more often. For a classic comfortable pretty chair, wicker is fun and never goes out of style. Patio chairs -an important element

by guestpost on September 30, 2009

Patio chairs can be an important element in your outdoor design.  There are some beautiful patio chairs on the market, but before you get carried away with design, here are a few basic design elements to take into account.  Shape plays a big role in the design of furniture.  Furniture designers use shapes to achieve different effects.  Angular shapes tend convey strength and masculinity.  Angular patio chairs can work well in a deck setting, especially one that has lots of angles in it.  Curves tend to have a softer feel and look great on patios with a more feminine atmosphere or place with lots of plants. Proportion is a combination of shape and size.  This can be used to create interesting design effects like asymmetry and unexpected architecture.  Patio chairs are generally of average proportions but getting patio chairs with unusual proportions is a great way to liven up your patio area.  Try juxtaposing oversized chairs and very small tables for a surprising effect.  Color can work with all these elements of design as a unifying aspect.  Matching the color of your patio chairs to their surroundings will harmonize the space.  Design may seem mysterious at first it is really a matter of breaking down simple elements.
