When choosing patio furniture cushions there are so many choices, depending on the type of furniture you have on your deck or patio. Common outdoor cushions include: wicker furniture cushions, bench cushions, glider cushions, chaise lounge cushions, wrought iron cushions, Adirondack chair cushions, swing cushions, lounge chair cushions. The filling used in the patio furniture cushions is important. The two most recommended types of fillings are shredded fiber fillings or the layered poly fiber filling. For cushions such as toss pillows and wicker seat pads, probably the best choice is the shredded fiber filling. A cushion filled with shredded fiber, has a nice “fluffy” feel to it. When your patio furniture cushions require firmness, the layered poly fiber filling is the best choice. Both these types of cushion fillings are specifically made for outdoor use. As opposed to foam, these fiber fillings allow for much better air circulation which again means quicker drying times if your patio furniture cushions get wet. It is also very important that you choose the right fabric for your cushions. Variations of woven acrylic, polyester, and other outdoor materials are the preferred choices. Although they are water and UV resistant, don’t mistake that for being waterproof. If your patio furniture cushions get wet, dry them thoroughly, and to prevent fading, bring them inside.
